That's my wife (Libby) over there. Lib3.jpg (113238 bytes)
Biographical Stuff: I was Born in Baton Rouge in 1959, moved to Lawrence Kansas at age 2 and to West Palm Beach Florida at age 9. Quit high school at age 15 and ended up in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California by 19. Spent 12 years there, handyman and wood-hippy. Went back to school at 26. Two years at Cabrillo CC in Aptos, 2 years at UC Santa Cruz. Majored in philosophy. Philosopher-mechanic? Went to graduate school in philosophy at UC Irvine (that's south of L.A., yikes!) at age 30 (1990) for six years, unfashionably specializing in the idea that people are biological organisms and that our knolwedge of the world is a matter of the adaptation of our brains to our environment.  Married in 1995. I spent two years as an assistant professor type at Ohio's #2 State school, Bowling Green State University. When the money ran out there, I spent a year commuting from San Deigo (where my wife had landed a nice Post-Doc in fisheries) to the Centre for Applied Ethics at  UBC (Vancouver Canada) whence most of the stuff on this website came. When the money ran out there, (they're nice enough to let me be "Faculty Research Associate") we moved to Seattle where Libby had landed another nice post-doc and then a cushy job with National Marine Fisheries (any guess who made the right career choice? Hmm.)  Currently writing a little, teaching part time. Thinking about theoretical biology. Thinking about early retirement. Playing a little music. (Check out the band at http://www.myspace.com/ghostlobby .)
